How to make Chocolate Mug Cake

You can make this mug cake in under 5 minutes and it requires just a few simple ingredients.⁣
All you need to do is mix all the ingredients together, pour the batter into a mug and microwave for about 1 minute! ⁣

Chocolate Mug Cake

Serves: 1

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1.5 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon instant coffee granules (optional, but it enhances the chocolate flavor)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 5 tablespoons milk
  • a few semi-sweet chocolate chips – optional

Instructions:

  1. In a small bowl, add in flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, salt, instant coffee and sugar, whisk well to combine.
  2. Add in milk and oil, whisk until combined.
  3. Pour the batter into a microwave safe mug and sprinkle some chocolate chips on top.
  4. Microwave for 1 minute or until the cake is risen and it is just set. Be careful not to overcook. The timing is different depending on your microwave wattage. Mine took 1 minute and 30 seconds because my microwave is low wattage. (900 watt)
  5. You can add a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top or sprinkle with powdered sugar.
