Vanilla Iced Coffee

If you are here it means you, like me, are in love with coffee and guess what? It is so easy and inexpensive to make iced coffee at home! All you need is coffee (obviously) and a few everyday ingredients! I love to add a homemade vanilla syrup to it too, which is again super simple and quick.

Vanilla Iced Coffee:

Yields: 1 cup iced coffee

Ingredients:

For the vanilla syrup:

For the syrup, you will need equal amounts of sugar and water. So you can totally make more or less depending on how much you use throughout the week, but with this recipe you will get about 1 cup of syrup.

  • 1cup granulated sugar
  • 1cup brown sugar (you can substitute with white sugar, but brown sugar gives it more flavor)
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
For the Iced Coffee:

  • 1 cup brewed coffee, cold (you can make it the night before and refrigerate it) or at room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon simple syrup (add more or less to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons milk ,cream or half & half (you can add more or less depending on your preference)
  • Ice cubes

Instructions:

1. In a small saucepan, combine white sugar, brown sugar and water, stir and bring to a boil on medium heat, and let it simmer for about 5-8 minutes.

2. Take the sauce pan off the heat, add the vanilla extract and stir. Let it cool down.
You can store this syrup in the fridge for 1-2 weeks.

3. Pour coffee over ice, add the vanilla syrup and cream to taste.
4. Enjoy!
